Pre Title;
Mise en Scene
Morgan Freemans' character ( Det. Somerset ) is shown to be a single man, lonely, lives in an apartment on his own. Very simple and tidy lifestyle. Old school Metronomic voice. Almost perfect man

Brad Pitts' Character ( Det. Mills ) Young white, tall, cocky, arrogant male. Skinny tie, leather jacket. Shows no respect for his older partner.

Crime scene is shown with two bodies lying dead on the floor. This gives Mills and Somerset a chance to meet each other
They walk down the street and talk
Somerset goes home and gets into bed.
His metronome ticks seven times and then we go into the title Sequence

Camera Angles
Close ups,
extreme close ups of bodies
Pans and zooms
Lack of movement

Sound and editing
Up to date music
Drums and beats

Title Sequence;
Mise en scene
Scrap Book
We see a mans hands
He cuts and sticks to fill pages of the scrap book
Plasters over his fingers
Images of Paedophilia

Camera Angles
Zooms into the book but not much other movement

Sound and editing
A Modern drum and bass track over the sound of turning pages in a book
Continuous editing, we hardly see any cuts
Images in the book have been super imposed over one another
